Kyle’s Karate is a traveling martial arts vendor offering enrichment, after-school programs, birthdays, at-home private lessons, and special events across Maryland and Virginia — including Potomac, McLean, Fairfax, Montgomery County, and Loudoun County.

Ranking System
Progress in Kyle’s Karate is marked through a thoughtful ranking structure designed for growth and motivation. Each belt earned signifies mastery of new skills, discipline, and confidence.
- Stripes of White: For younger students, striped white belts give smaller, rewarding milestones.
- Junior Ranks: Older children earn double-striped belts showing higher maturity and skill.
- Adult Ranks: Adults progress through a traditional nine-belt system from White to Black.
Advancement is based on effort, consistency, and technical proficiency — not just attendance. Each promotion represents real progress and dedication.
Merit & Recognition
At the end of class, one student earns a Merit Award — usually a star — recognizing exceptional effort, listening, or improvement. Different colors represent excellence in specific skills like focus, technique, balance, and flexibility.
Students may also earn rectangular merit patches for attributes such as Respect, Discipline, or Round Kick, and an American Flag patch for outstanding overall excellence.

Kyle Mitcham, Owner
Kyle “Coach Kyle” Mitcham has been teaching martial arts since 2009. A Black Belt in Tang Soo Do with training in Muay Thai and other disciplines, Kyle is not just a practitioner but an innovator. He developed his own modern system of American Karate — practical, refined, and outlined in his book. Combining traditional wisdom with modern insight, Kyle’s Karate delivers an authentic and exciting experience for all ages.
